Project Overview

Nestled on the skirts of downtown Kelowna, this notable two-storey commercial office building serves as a local office and meeting centre for the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union. The building’s thoughtful design accommodates a variety of functions, with the second storey dedicated to office space, while the ground floor features a spacious meeting hall complemented by essential support spaces.

Strategically positioned between a tranquil residential neighborhood and a bustling retail center, the building is meticulously designed to harmonize with its diverse surroundings. It gracefully bonds the serene residential area and the lively commercial zone, embodying a sense of place that resonates with both environments.

  • The architectural approach embraces the residential character of the nearby homes through its modest scale and the use of encompassing materials such as brick and wood. The color scheme further enhances this connection, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. At the same time, the building’s street-facing facade adopts a more public and retail-oriented aesthetic, ensuring it engages effectively with the urban context.

This duality in design not only respects the existing neighborhood fabric but also provides a welcoming and functional space for the union’s activities, making it a noteworthy addition to the community.

Completed under previous firm of Studio B Architects.
