Project Overview
At the core of the University of British Columbia stands a pioneering facility, home to the acclaimed Clean Energy Research Centre and four notable Canadian Research Chairs. This cutting-edge complex provides a variety of teaching and research spaces, dedicated to the advancement of biological, environmental, and process engineering.
The facility is thoughtfully designed with five distinct space types, divided into two separate structures to meet both functional and safety needs. The first structure is a low-rise, ground-related building that accommodates the high head laboratory, workshops, and essential support services. This design ensures robust structural support for heavy equipment and provides ample service access.

Adjacent to this is a six-storey building that houses additional teaching laboratories, lecture theatres, and offices for faculty and students. This arrangement not only fosters a collaborative environment but also supports a wide range of academic and research activities, making it a cornerstone of UBC's commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation in engineering.
Completed under previous firm of Bunting Coady Architects.
