Project Overview
The Okanagan College Centre for Learning, a remarkable 11,000 sq ft expansion to the existing college library in Kelowna, BC, stands as a model of modern educational architecture. This five-storey, interdisciplinary facility is constructed with a robust concrete frame and a sleek steel-framed roof, embodying both strength and elegance. The new addition is cohesively integrated with the existing library through a stunning, light-filled atrium.
This central atrium, soaring to triple height, creates a dramatic north-south axis between the two buildings. The south façade of the atrium, known as the Agora, stretches east-west along the pedestrian street, serving as an indoor/outdoor circulation link. This design not only enhances connectivity but also provides a striking architectural statement for the Okanagan College campus.

The Agora is more than just a passageway; it is a vibrant space that invites students and faculty to gather, interact, and engage in a dynamic learning environment. The interplay of natural light and open space within the atrium fosters a sense of openness and community, making it a central hub of activity and collaboration. This innovative design reflects the college’s commitment to creating an inspiring and functional educational space that meets the needs of its diverse academic programs.
