Project Overview
Situated on a very unique property in the Okanagan Valley, where the landscape and terroir create a truly unique environment, the hotel project we’re currently working on strives to create a new beacon for activity, connection, relaxation, and immersion in the Okanagan Valley experience. Taking cues from the glacial and bedrock influences that have shaped the regions landscape, as well as the strict processions of rows upon rows of grapevines draped over the undulating landscape, the architectural concept contemplates the duality of this condition, with the ground plane or ‘base’ of the building being more anchored, fragmented, and heavy, while the guest-rooms above become more open, light, and airy. Linear vertical extrusions wrap the building façade, echoing the geometric regularity of the rows of grapevines that define the region while providing passive shading in the hot summer months, minimizing solar heat gain from the harsh late-afternoon sun. A third-floor outdoor pool deck is nestled between the two wings of guest-rooms, elevating the view out and across the landscape while optimizing for solar access. The program includes 100 guest rooms, a full-service destination restaurant, spa, expansive outdoor pool deck, lounge, lobby and gym / fitness facilities.
